An often overlooked distinction: the brake light switch is a separate component, not part of the hydraulic unit. An SBC warning therefore does not necessarily originate in the braking unit itself.
What the code does not tell you
- An SBC warning in this case does not mean the hydraulic unit is involved.
- The code requests a component check; it does not prove that the component has failed.
- The code states what the control unit reports, not which component must be replaced.
- SBC is a safety-critical braking system. A fault code alone cannot establish whether the vehicle is safe to drive.
