Chip tuning & Stage 1
Software optimisation based on the engine, transmission, software version and vehicle condition.
Renault · Stuttgart · Alpine
Renault and Dacia share much of their engine and control-unit technology. In practice, the engine often says more about the working method than the model, and the exact control-unit version says more than either.
Work on Renault is part of the documented service scope. The scope is still checked for each vehicle.
Service scope
Every service starts in the same order: check the vehicle details, assess the fault, establish technical feasibility, then carry out the work. ECU and TCU access, unlocking, diagnostics and software work are considered separately because they have different requirements.
Software optimisation based on the engine, transmission, software version and vehicle condition.
Check filter loading, differential pressure, regeneration history and sensors.
Check fault memory, live data and the surrounding systems before making any decision.
Check the immobiliser and start authorisation in the context of the whole system.
Identification, readout, bench/boot access, backup and programming.
Vehicle assessment
These three cases can look similar from the outside but differ greatly in technical terms. The assessment determines the work involved, the scope and what is realistically worthwhile.
Clio, Mégane, Captur and Kadjar, plus Trafic and Master vans. For commercial vehicles, actual use determines what makes sense.
Sports variants with dedicated calibration and transmission behaviour. They are assessed separately because the standard setup has less reserve.
Third-party interventions on Renaults are often followed by faults in the immobiliser and comfort network. Those systems are therefore checked too.
Systems
The fitted system determines the approach, not the badge. These are the units that feature most often in Renault enquiries.
Fitted to many dCi engines. The specific version and software determine the reading method and scope for work.
Also widely used in Renault diesel engines, with a dedicated access method.
The central unit for comfort, access and the immobiliser. Starting and key issues often lead the diagnosis here.
Engines & transmissions
The engine designation alone says little about the outcome. Condition, software version and transmission also matter, which is why a pre-check always comes first.
Diesel engines across almost every model series, including Dacia. Enquiries often concern particulate filters, EGR and AdBlue.
Turbocharged petrol engines with limited but usable headroom when the underlying condition is sound.
Typical fault patterns
These patterns recur. They are a starting point for diagnostics, not a remote diagnosis or a substitute for inspecting the specific vehicle.
Involves dosing, the tank module or NOx sensors. It should be checked early because the vehicle will no longer start once the remaining range runs out.
Often leads to the immobiliser, body control unit or key recognition. Proof of ownership is required for work on these systems.
Before we confirm the work
Without these details, any statement about feasibility is a guess. With them, we can usually say before the appointment whether work is possible and within what scope.

FAQ
Largely, yes. Dacia uses engines and control units from the same modular platform. The exact engine and fitted control-unit version matter, not the brand name.
Once the model, year of manufacture, engine and existing fault codes are available, it is usually possible to indicate before the appointment whether work is feasible and within what scope. Without those details, it remains a guess.
That is normal if only the fault memory was cleared. The code returns because the cause remains. Assessing it in the context of the whole system is more useful than clearing it again.
